Health Requirements

Vaccinations

Being a licensed cattery it is essential that cats are fully vaccinated against Feline Enteritis and Upper Respiratory Infection (cat flu). Up to date vaccination certificates will need to be seen every visit.

If your cat has never been vaccinated please allow yourself enough time to do this because it will take a period of four weeks to complete.

The first injection is a combination of enteritis and flu, the second injection of flu must be given 3 - 4 weeks later.
Enteritis is a single dose.

If your cats' annual booster has lapsed then he/she will need to start again with the course as above.

Fleas and Worms

Could you please ensure also that your cat is regularly treated against fleas and worms (for fleas it is usually monthly and every 3 - 6 months for worm treatments).

If your cat is found to have either they will be treated and the cost recouped from the owner.

There is currently a strain of flea that is resistant to most treatments apart from the ones supplied by your Veterinary Surgeon.

Fleas are one of the most common parasites and if the infestation is severe enough it could cause anemia. If scratching or itching is noticed you should groom your cat with a fine-toothed comb on a white surface. If black spots appear on the surface or in your comb then this is flea feces and should be dealt with using a product from your vet. Many on the market do not work.

Pets can become infected with a wide range of parasitic worms, many of which can be passed on to us. Which could potentially cause serious health problems.

We hope you find this information useful.

Male Cats

Male cats over the age of 7 months must be neutered. If they are not, we cannot allow the cat to stay at our cattery, as they could present an infection hazard to our other resident cats.

Dietary Requirements

If the dietary requirements differ from our normal provision owners may be requested to provide it. If you do not provide the food at all or do not provide enough food for the duration of the cats' stay, costs of providing the food will be recouped from the owner.

Medication

We are happy to administer any medication, including injections, which have been prescribed by a vet.

Please make us aware of any medical problems before arrival and give us the full details of required treatments upon arrival/check-in, if you can provide written instructions that would be greatly appreciated.

The proprietor of Queniborough Cattery reserves the right to refuse admission to any cat showing signs of ill health pending advice from a Veterinary Surgeon. Owners should appreciate that this is essential in order to safeguard the health of all the cats boarded with us.

Veterinary services will be arranged should this be necessary during your cat’s stay. If any client prefers their cat to be seen by their usual vet, please discuss this with us prior to arrival.

Disclaimer

Whilst every care and precaution is taken to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all cats, they are boarded entirely at the owner’s own risk.
